ALE temporary housing checklist
Documents and notes to gather before you talk with your adjuster about Additional Living Expense / Loss of Use.

Before the call
- Policy declarations page showing Loss of Use / ALE limit and any time cap.
- Claim number and adjuster contact.
- Written note that the residence is uninhabitable (who said so, and when).
- Normal monthly living costs (housing, food, utilities) as a baseline.
While you are displaced
- Every hotel folio, furnished lease invoice, RV rental invoice, and pad receipt.
- Meals, laundry, and storage costs above normal, if you will claim them.
- Comparable quotes if your adjuster asks why you chose a given option.
- Photos of the home condition and of the temporary setup.
Questions to ask
- Is prior approval required for stays longer than X days?
- Will you accept an RV on-lot or monthly pad as comparable housing?
- How should flood living expenses be separated if a flood policy also applies?
This checklist is educational, not legal or claims advice. Continue with the ALE guide or get connected.
Not sure which housing type fits?
Tell us your situation. We route you to education, a provider match, or LongTerm RV when an RV path makes sense.
